PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
There is something for all ages at Barents Spektakel! Together with Pikene på Broen´s collaborative partners, the festival has a dedicated programme of activities for children and young people.
Open festival workshops for children
Saturday & Sunday 11:00-14:00, in the activity room in The Old Fire Station.
The theme of this year's Barents Spektakel is TRUST/TILLIT, and the program is full of exciting experiences. We invite you to an open children's workshop with several activities based on the festival exhibition. With mediators Kristin Risan and Emma Gunnarsson.

In collaboration with Tromsø International Film Festival and TIFF Junior, we have the pleasure of presenting an exciting selection of films for children and young people of various ages. The programme consists of a short film programme adapted for different age groups. More detailed programme will come!
11:00 - 11:45: Film program for the little ones (4 years old +)
12:00 - 12:45 Film program for middle schoolers (9 years old +)
13:00 - 14:15 Film for the slightly older (12 years old+)
Cod Connection!

Did you know that the codfish dances and plays music? Not many people have experienced the secret life of the cod, but now you can be a part of it!
The cod is not having it so easy at the moment. We humans make so much noise that the fish can't hear each other's music - something they depend on, in order to make more cod babies. If they don't hear each other, there won't be any more cod children! What can we do about it? In Cod Connection, we invite the children to travel below the surface of the water to get to know our friend the cod better, in an installation where sound, video and interaction are in focus.
Kaos Spektakel!
25. February - Barentshallen - FREE
Event host: Sør-Varanger municipality
13.00-16.00: Disco and neon party for children 0-12 years
14.00: Dance performance from pupils from the Kulturskolen
Feel free to wear white/light clothes, we will have neon face paint and glow sticks. You are allowed to bring your own decorations. We serve buns and juice.
18.00 - 22.00 Youth event 13-18 years
18.00-19.30: Workshop - neon painting. We have both face painting and cloth painting.
Bring clothes you are not afraid of getting messy, preferably white/light clothes.
19.30-20.15: Leo Ajkic will give a presentation on youth, addiction and mental health.
20.15-22.00: Neon party. We have glow sticks, and you are allowed to bring your own decorations.
Simple food will be served and free transport home for youth groups.
There will also be opportunities for other activities in the hall (such as in the Open Hall)
The Youth Council
As part of Kaos Spektakel, the youth councils in Sør-Varanger have invited the youth council in Inari to a workshop to discuss common challenges in the border municipalities. The theme of the youth council workshop is "Youth and mental health". We are lucky enough to have Leo Ajkic at the workshop both in the morning and at the actual "spektakel" in the evening.
Activities for schools and kindergartens during the Barents Spektakel
We have a varied programme on offer for schools and kindergartens during the Barents Spektakel! We offer tours and workshops adapted for school classes and kindergartens throughout the festival. This includes events with the mediators where the focus is on the festival theme TRUST and the festival as a whole, as well as workshops based on specific art projects where students work together with the artists themselves. The activities take place in both the exhibition spaces and the classroom/kindergarten.
